The Perfect Bite

I am a food person and a firm believer in the perfect bite. I was thinking about this concept as I was partaking in delicious New Years food at my Grandmothers house today. It is a tradition to have a late lunch, early dinner at the Johnston House up on the hill. I  always arrange my bites in perfect order the salty, savory and rich flavors are all so tempting…Ham and turkey tease my taste buds and the garlicky spice of my Grandmothers pickles makes my mouth water. Olives green and black aligned with my mothers deviled eggs make the mouth-watering list. I take small bites of everything to see which is worthy of the last taste in my mouth. Broccoli salad, broccoli bake, pasta salad piled on my plate with all the right seasonings…as I carefully craft the perfect bites mixing and matching the flavors that fill my plate I appreciate each bite and take them slowly to create lasting enjoyment. The freshness and deliciousness of the pasta salad wins out and I choose to eat it last. Yum!!

I obviously love food and am always seeking ways to make things with more flavor and tantalizing to the palate. I struggle well really battle with overeating. And I think if I move forward with my resolution to be healthier physically I will be seeking new and creative ways to eat healthier. If any of you in blog land have recipe ideas I would love to have them. It is off to bed for this very tired Momma who only slept 2 hours last night. Much love and hope for the new year!
